POLICE UNITY TOUR...in memory of ALEX
Hey all…several have asked in the past 6 weeks how you can help keep the life of Alex alive…and here’s your first chance for 2009!
A good friend of Alex’s, James Manley, is also a Police Officer in Westchester NY, is riding in the POLICE UNITY TOUR…a 300+ mile bike ride from Northern New Jersey (Newark) to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC!
“Ride for Those Who Died”
This year, James is riding in memory of Alex and all the other men and women who bravely made the ultimate sacrifice as they served the citizens of their communities…as Alex did for Hollywood.

National Police Week...May 16-19, 2009
National Police Week is May 16-19,2009. It is held each year at this time in Washington DC.
There are TONS of activites happening, and I'm slowly learning about many of them...as I get more info I will let everyone know.
I DO know that this is when they add the names of Fallen Officers to the National Police Memorial.
Check out the pictures from 2008's week - National Police Week 2008 Photos.
Several of us are planning on going this year for Alex.
I know there are others who are riding in a bike ride from NYC to DC for Alex also.
Once I get more info...will post it here.

A Week Later
Well it's been 10 days...things are a bit easier, I guess, to deal with.
But like I told someone tonight, I am still waiting on that phone call/text message from him saying "lets go play some pool."
You never know what you've got til it's gone, they say...and let me tell you, it's SOOOO true now more than ever to me!
I think I've said the words I LOVE YOU and hugged more in the past 10 days than I have my whole entire life.
God I miss him...but God I know you've got him...and he's now another guardian angel for me...and soooo many others!

Picture of the line of cars / patrol cars on I-95...check out that even northbound traffic slowed down to look. I-95 was closed from Cypress Creek to Sunrise...approx 15 minutes.

I remember thinking how happy I was that everyone came over. Alex told me that day that Derick had dragged him.. then he said "nah just kidding I wouldnt have missed it!"
Alex like Fay said made a room light up and that smile of his always made me happy... That was Alex just made you smile even if you didnt know what you were smiling about... I love you flaco always in my heart....

So those of you who know me well, know that music is a HUGE part of my life.
I've always said I could find a song for ANY situation...well...
This is a video of one of Alex's favorite songs...I remember him buying the NICKELBACK CD and playing this song for me in the parking lot one night...and this was WAAAAY before it became a huge hit.
We saw them in concert last year...and the lead singer was sick and did NOT sing this song during the show...it was "my only disappointment" Alex said that night.

Alex...
I spoke to Alex Saturday afternoon. We were talking about a new car he was going to test drive on Sunday before joining us all for the Dolphins game at Quarterdeck on Las Olas. It had become a weekly 'tradition' for us...meeting at QD for the games.
I don't think it's hit me yet that it won't be the same without Alex around. A bunch of us watched the game yesterday from QD and it just seemed incomplete without Alex around.
